Going Out to Find the Peace Within

"Walking through nature and observing its many facets is a continuous journey of learning."

Talpiot neighborhood has recently opened a group that focuses on self-development and trips in nature - the Great Outdoors Society. The group was initiated and is now run by Erez, Year of Service Fellow who works with children and youth in the Talpiot neighbrhood in Jerusalem, in order to answer a need for youth to enjoy nature, while working on self-development and expression.

The group is attended by sixteen 7th graders who meet once a month for activities surrounding topics of environment and nature, survival, teamwork, and volunteerism. Just last week, they learned how to cook on an open fire!

The group meets goes on a outdoor trip once a month, mainly to sources of nature around the Jerusalem area. In the vacation period from school, the trips are taken further North or South to explore additional views and environments.

The Great Outdoors Society feel very connected and enthusaistic about this initiative, we look forward to seeing more wonderful pictures!

The group operates with the support of the Greater Baka Youth Unit, ams Beit Midrash Elul-Gvanim, Jerusalem.
